2009 Accomplishments

Helping Safeguard Voter-Approved Conservation Funding

Through the launch of our new website, TheAmendment.org, we kept Minnesotans informed and helped legislators secure full funding for clean water, habitat and parks work approved by voters through the 2008 Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment.

Clean Cars

Working with a broad-based Minnesota coalition, we brought pressure to bear on Minnesota policymakers that helped prompt the federal government to enact clean car standards that will reduce pollution and improve fuel efficiency.

Strengthening the Conservation Voice

In tough economic times, we were able to strengthen the voices of Minnesotans supporting conservation by helping partner organizations reach more concerned citizens through our consulting work and by attracting strong funding support for our news, features, accountability and Minnesota conservation storytelling.

Ongoing Programs

Check My Lake:  Nearly 10,000 people visited Checkmylake.org in 2009 to find out the pollution status of their favorite Minnesota lake and to learn about the need for increased investment in cleaning up our waters.

•    Conservation Minnesota Magazine – 2009 also saw the continuation of our online magazine, educating and entertaining Minnesotans on Minnesota's green economy and we helped Minnesotans share their own outdoor stories as well.

•    CM’s Budget Report – Our eighth year of reports on Minnesota’s conservation budget – the only such report being done by any group in the state - continued our traditon of providing clear and credible information for both policy and decision makers.
